Drag Show 2025

Show was on October 4, 2025, written on October 5, 2025

Yesterday, I went to the 26th Annual Drag Show at the Wood Gym in the SDC. It was my fist time going to a drag show so I wasn't certain what to expect. I also took some photos and videos. Kewennaw Pride, the group that was putting on the event, also posted some nice pictures on their Instagram.

Act One

  1. The image below was the host, Vanda LaRose. She started off as the first performer. I had no idea what to expect and was honestly kind of nervous. It was also very hot in the SDC, it had reached almost 90 earlier in the day. She started lipsyncing and dancing around. Then I noticed people holding out money and she would walk around and grab it. I had no idea why it was happening, but apparently it is quite common and is called "tipping". People will hold out bills during a performance and the entertainer will walk around and grab them.

  2. Once she was done, she introduced the next performer Aurora Gozmic.

  3. The 3rd performer was Ari C. Blakk Diamond.

  4. The next performer was actually a drag king, Spade Slick. I didn't know that was a thing but I guess it makes sense.

  5. The next performer was Khloe Daniels.

  6. The final performer was Sativa Diamond. She was actually named Chicago Entertainer of the Year, according to our host. I had no idea I was going to see someone who was so prestigious.

Act Two

I thought the show was going to be over, but then I was suprised with a second act. It followed the same order as the first.

  1. This is Vanda LaRose in Act Two.

  2. This is Aurora Gozmic in Act Two.

After this performance she gave a short speech.

  3. This is Ari C. Blakk Diamond in Act Two.

  4. This is Spade Slick in Act Two. This was my favorite performance of the entire show. The outfit was my favorite and he had some good moves.

  5. This is Khloe Daniels in Act Two.

  6. This is Sativa Diamond in Act Two.

Act Three

Yes. The show that I thought only had one act ended up having three. Safe to say I was there much later than I thought I was going to be.

  1. This is Vanda LaRose in Act Three. I am actually quite proud of this picture.

  2. This is Aurora Gozmic in Act Three. In this one she had people come up to her on the stage to tip during her performance.

  3. This is Ari C. Blakk Diamond in Act Three. I was able to get a decent video of this performance.

  4. This is Spade Slick in Act Three.

  5. This is Khloe Daniels in Act Three.

  6. This is Sativa Diamond in Act Three. She went crazy with this finale. I wish I could've gotten a good video of it. She was doing cartwheels and the splits. No wonder she is rated as the best performer in Chicago.

Bonus Round!

There was also a segment where the host invited 8 people on stage to do a lipsync battle. It was 1v1 until the finale. Then the 4 finalists were up on stage competing against each other. The winners were decided by how loud the crowd cheered for them. In the end, they all left with signed posters which is pretty cool. This was used as an intermission of sorts during Act Two. The girl in the red and black dress won.

Conclusion

I had a bit of fun going to a drag show. Not certain if I would go again by myself, but I had a good time. If it wasn't so hot I would've enjoyed it a lot more. I feel kind of bad for the performers. I can't imagine dancing in that heat with wigs on and stuff like that. Does not sound very comfortable.
